Make the Zipper Pockets

If you are using zippers longer than 7˝, you will need to shorten them (see Shortening a Zipper).

1. Fuse the zipper pocket interfacings to the wrong side of the zipper pocket pieces.

2. Place a zipper on top of a 8½˝ × 6½˝ pocket piece, right side of the fabric to the wrong side of the tape. Align the zipper tape with the edge of the fabric and center the zipper along that edge.

3. Sew ¼˝ away from the edge. Press the pocket piece away from the zipper.

4. Place the zipper on top of a 8½˝ × 5½˝ pocket piece (note the different size!), right side of the fabric to the wrong side of the tape. Align the zipper tape with the edge of the fabric. The sides of both pocket pieces should line up with each other across the zipper. Sew ¼˝ away from edge. Press the pocket piece away from the zipper.
